Introduction to Pattern Formation
In advance of the meeting, Michael C. Cross, Professor of Theoretical Physics at the California Institute of Technology (Pasadena, USA) and speaker of this year's Lorenz Kramer Memorial Lecture, will present lectures on 'Introduction to Pattern Formation'.
These lectures, given by one of the masters in the field, are particularly interesting for newcomers and offers them a great opportunity to get introduced to an exciting research topic.
Michael C. Cross is with Henry Greenside author of a recent text book on 'Pattern Formation and Dynamics in Nonequilibrium Systems' and he wrote with Pierre C. Hohenberg one of the major references in the field of 'Pattern formation outside of equilibrium' in Reviews of Modern Physics 65, 851-1112 (1993).
The lectures will take place in building NW II, lecture hall H18, the same location where the memorial lecture takes place. The lectures will start on Sunday, October 9, at 2:30 p. m. and will last the afternoon.
